                                                Module 1 Discussion 1

Many people, who’ve never taught, insinuate that teaching is an easy job.  Many others go as far as to say that we are highly paid babysitters. All teachers know that if we were babysitters, we would make much money than we’re currently making. They say this not to be offensive, but because they’re ignorant to the dedication that goes into the education of their children. People don’t always realize that teaching is a job and all the work that goes into it.
If I were to come across someone who told me they felt this way about Early Childhood educators, I would be sure to mention a few things to help alter his/her opinion. I would be sure to mention that not only is it important for all students to be successful in their elementary years, but that it is especially essentially to understand the importance of education for the three following reasons: teachers teach preparation and organization skills, hard work and dedication and, most importantly, they constantly work to better themselves (Waynne, 2012). I would then explain, as easily as possibly, how the studies of this author proves how teaching is more than just babysitting.
